Book Review: Finding Your Vision in the Darkness

Finding Your Vision in the Darkness, by Jasmine Felder

My review: ★★★

As you would expect from the title, this is a book about getting yourself through difficult times and coming out better for them. It has a very strong Christian emphasis, so it is best for someone with strong Christian faith or who is looking to find clarity through their faith.

The book is split into three parts. The first section is about getting through painful times, mainly by trusting in God. The second section is a short explanation of self discovery. The third section is about setting goals and having the courage to pursue them, and contains a rather nice pep talk about how past failures don’t prevent future success.

This book is written in an informal conversational style, but that devolves into rambling at times. It would benefit from a bit more structure: highlighting top points and summarizing them at the end of each section. That would help make insights and actions clearer. I also found some of the sections to be too brief, especially the second section: it’s one thing to talk about the value of self discovery, but another to describe the process and help someone through it.

If you’re going through a rough time in your life, and interested in exploring how you can find peace through your connection with God, you might find solace and encouragement in this book.
