On The Battlefield, by Roderick D. Talley

My review: ★★★★
Reading this book doesn’t really “feel” like reading poetry. The pieces in this book are part poetry, part sermon, part pep-talk. The author draws from his own experiences, his own imperfections, to write heartfelt encouragement to follow your values, stay strong, stay humble, and treat others with love. Everything is well-grounded in real life instead of abstractly preachy.
The only complaint I have about this book is that it’s fairly short. It packs a lot into those pages, though, and it’s fairly good for re-reading when you’re going through a tough time. Recommended reading for anyone who needs a bit of encouragement (which is pretty much everyone, right?).
